STSP :: Neighborhood Walk :: East Austin

TYPE: STSP | PACE: Social | TERRAIN: paved surfaces | DISTANCE: Approximately Six (6) miles | ADDRESS: 909 Navasota St, Austin, TX 78702

Walk Description: Join us on a community-focused walking experience hosted weekly at the Same Time, Same Place (STSP). The theme of these walks is “Memento Mori” which is essentially a way of recognizing that tomorrow is not guaranteed and a reminder to live the lives we are given fully each day. One method of doing this is walking together on a weekly basis.

Schedule, Planning, and Nearby Transit: We will meet just before 8:00AM in front of the Texas State Cemetery and travel various routes from that single starting point each week. Parking is available on the street along both Navasota and 11th. (Make sure to check posted signage for paid parking requirements, if any.)

Cost & Tips: There is no fee for this walking experience.

Trip Notes:

– This is a pet-free walking experience. Individuals who do bring their dogs will be respectfully asked not to walk with the group.

– Wear/Bring: comfortable socks & clothing.

– Cancellation Policy: We only cancel in extreme weather conditions on our path, such as ice, hail, or lightning. You will be contacted via text and/or email no later than one hour prior to the event start if there is a cancellation.

Walking Movement Leader: Katie Smith is the owner of The Mod Ped. She’s walked thousands of miles and is committed to facilitating walking opportunities to encourage people to be physically active for a lifetime. Katie is a certified walking coach and personal trainer with an Exercise is Medicine credential. She opts for walking as her main form of transportation, so you may spot her out on a ruck about town in Austin on any day that ends in "-y!"
